The Sokoto State Government has confirmed that a joint airstrike conducted by the Nigerian military in collaboration with the United States targeted terrorist positions in Tangaza Local Government Area, with no civilian casualties recorded.
The confirmation was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to journalists in the state.
According to the statement, the full impact of the operation could not be immediately determined, as assessment reports from the joint military authorities were still being awaited.

The government also addressed reports of unidentified objects found near Jabo town in Tambuwal Local Government Area, noting that the circumstances surrounding the discovery could not yet be explained pending analysis by Nigerian and US military authorities. It stressed that no civilian casualties were recorded in the area.
Sokoto State Government said it welcomes collaborations between Nigeria and relevant international partners aimed at curbing terrorism, banditry and cross-border crimes, describing the ongoing operations as necessary for the protection of lives and property.
The statement added that the state government has, over the past two years, consistently supported security agencies through the provision of logistics and equipment, while calling on residents to continue cooperating with authorities by providing credible information to sustain efforts toward lasting peace and security.
