The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Most Rev. Mark Maigida Nzukwein, has blessed Chief Dr. Bulus Maiyaki, PhD, urging the Catholic faithful and the Tiv community in Donga Local Government Area to support his political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The bishop made the call during a New Year thanksgiving service at St. John Parish, Afogba, describing Dr. Maiyaki as a philanthropist whose contributions cut across religious, ethnic, and political lines.
According to Bishop Nzukwein, Dr. Maiyaki’s long-standing efforts in education, youth empowerment, community development, and support for the vulnerable demonstrate the values required of public leaders. He prayed for divine guidance, protection, and wisdom for Maiyaki and encouraged the faithful to back leaders who prioritize peace, inclusiveness, and the common good.
Responding, Dr. Maiyaki expressed gratitude for the blessings and assured that he would continue to work with critical stakeholders in Donga to restore peace in crisis-affected communities. He identified injustice as the root cause of local conflicts and promised fairness, equity, and justice if elected to represent the people at the National Assembly.
Also speaking, Chief Sabastine Uma, the Tiv traditional leader in Donga, praised Maiyaki for providing solar streetlights, home solar systems, rice distribution, and job placements for Tiv youths, describing him as a leader for all communities. He assured that the Tiv people would support his political course when necessary.
Our correspondent observed that Dr. Maiyaki’s growing popularity is linked to his grassroots engagement, advocacy for equitable representation, support for education and healthcare initiatives, and consistent calls for unity and peaceful coexistence. The New Year service attracted community leaders, clergy, and worshippers from across Donga, providing a platform for reflection, prayer, and renewed political discourse as the state looks toward the 2027 elections
