The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked reports circulating on social media claiming that it has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.

INEC described the report as false and misleading, warning that it did not originate from the Commission and should be disregarded by the public and political stakeholders.

The electoral body clarified that no date has been fixed and no official timetable has been approved or published for the 2027 polls, stressing that any document suggesting otherwise is fake.

According to INEC, the release of election timetables is guided strictly by the provisions of the Electoral Act and follows due internal processes and consultations before being made public.

The Commission urged Nigerians, political parties, aspirants, and the media to rely only on information issued through its official communication channels, including its website and verified social media platforms.

INEC also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, noting that such actions could mislead the public and undermine confidence in the electoral process.

Reaffirming its commitment to credible elections, INEC assured Nigerians that all official announcements regarding the 2027 general election would be made transparently and at the appropriate time.

It further called on the public to remain vigilant and verify election-related information before sharing, in order to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic system.
