Nigeria have booked a place in the semi-final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after defeating Algeria 2–0 in their quarter-final encounter on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles delivered an impressive performance against the Desert Foxes, dominating proceedings for much of the first half but failing to convert their chances.

Nigeria came closest to opening the scoring when Calvin Bassey’s effort was dramatically cleared off the line.
The breakthrough, however, arrived in the second half as Victor Osimhen rose highest to head home Bruno Onyemaechi’s cross. The Napoli striker later turned provider, setting up Akor Adams to seal the victory with Nigeria’s second goal.
The three-time African champions will now face tournament hosts Morocco in the semi-final, with a place in the final at stake.
