A PDP stalwart from Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Sanusi Hong, replied to the former Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, who accused Governor Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State of whisking away a teenager who shared a video of his school in poor condition via a TikTok video.
According to Sanusi, Dalung’s accusations are baseless, as no Adamawa resident has been reported missing. His statement partly reads:
“Barrister Solomon Dalung’s accusations against Governor Fintiri on a viral TikTok video are baseless and misleading. In fact, I’m sure he’s unaware that Governor Fintiri has been busy delivering democracy dividends to Adamawa State residents. His administration prioritizes security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development under his Urban-Rural Renewal Mandate Agenda, tagged ‘Fresh Air’ for historical and monumental development.
“It’s surprising that Solomon Dalung, far away in Plateau State, claims a missing person in Adamawa when no one in the state has reported such an incident. This raises questions about Dalung’s sources and motives. Governor Fintiri’s administration demonstrates civility and respect for democratic principles, even during campaigns. There haven’t been reports of incidents like those Dalung alleges.
“Instead of spreading unsubstantiated claims, Solomon Dalung should focus on APC’s frustration of his political career, not someone governing Adamawa State with respect and dignity. Governor Fintiri is a democrat conducting politics with civility. Now, at the end of his tenure, it’s unclear why Dalung makes these allegations.
“The public deserves answers from Solomon Dalung: How did he learn about a missing Adamawa resident when no one else is aware? What’s his motive? Is the former Minister an interloper or hired merchant serving someone’s interests?
” I think Solomon Dalung needs to understand that Fintiri’s Urban-Rural Renewal Mandate has achieved significant education sector progress in all 21 Local Government Areas, including infrastructure development and prompt salary payments. He’s one of the few Governors agreeing to pay the N70,000 minimum wage.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri received the 2023 Best Governor of the Year Award from Nigeria Service Award Panel of Jury, primarily due to his education sector impacts: Interventions in WAEC/NECO fees payment for public school candidates, Renovation contracts for dilapidated school infrastructures across the three Senatorial Districts, Employment of hundreds of teachers
“Solomon’s claims that Governor Fintiri ordered his men to assault a young man who released a video criticizing the education sector are baseless. This is a pure case of political mischief by those Dalung found to be his paymasters.
” Unfortunately, the ex-Minister, who underperformed while in office, now runs battles with perceived political enemies. His politics of deception, attacking those performing better than him, has earned him a shameless crusader reputation.
” One of Governor Fintiri’s top policy priorities is security. He restored peace in urban areas upon taking office when deadly groups (Shila boys) terrorized Yola South, Yola North, Girei, Mubi South, and Mubi North Local Government Areas.
” In Dalung’s trending video, a content analyst would agree that he lacks factual basis. His claims about Zaredeen Aliyu’s assault and mishandling over education views in Adamawa are unfounded. Dalung’s frequent use of ‘Wai’ (meaning ‘maybe’ in Hausa) indicates doubt.
Sanusi believes that Dalung could have opted to ask questions and verify the purported incident with the Adamawa State government before going further.
“As a former Minister, Chairman of Jos South Local Government, and supposed lawyer, Dalung should demonstrate critical thinking and prowess. Why didn’t he verify facts from Adamawa State’s government?
“I advise Dalung to visit Adamawa State or Federal Ministry of Education to understand Fintiri’s education sector performance. His status as a former Minister surpasses his recent blatant show of irresponsibility.
“It seems Dalung’s status is dropping; he’s losing out. No wonder he’s becoming a fallen Iroko tree – from Minister to social media attacker. His political death beckons; it’ll soon be buried if he continues this childish fight.
“Mr. former Minister of Sports, recant your ways and be the leader Nigerians wish you to be, Mr Sanusi concluded.
