The Chief of Garbabi Chiefdom in Gashaka local government area of Taraba state, Kur Suleiman Salihu Umar Abazunai has felicitated with the Governor of Taraba state His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas on the occasion of his conferment with the Independent Newspaper Governor of the year award in the Education and Youths Sector.
This is contained in a statement made available to Journalists by the secretary of the Garbabi chiefdom in Gashaka.
According to the statement, the Royal father Suleiman Salihu Umar Abazunai lauded the Governor’s accomplishments in education, youth and sports, heritage and eco-tourism, healthcare, and security.
Kur Garbabi said that the Governor’s free education policy has increased student enrollment in primary and secondary schools while also making tertiary education more accessible to the common man on the street due to the 50% slash in tuition fees.
His royal highness Suleiman Salihu Umar Abazunai further stated that successful hosting of the Nwonyo International fishing and cultural festival after a 14 year hiatus, construction of new general hospitals, upgrading of the Danbaba Suntai airport to international status, provision of operational vehicle to security agencies, the construction of Township and Feeder roads and the general overhaul and revitalization of moribund infrastructure across the state has earned the Governor a prominent position in the list of Governors who have governed the state since it inception.
The traditional Chief further explained that the Governor has included youths in the state’s governance structure like no other administration, and he has also complied with the 35 percent United Nations affirmative action on women by appointing women to key positions on the state executive council as commissioners.
The Kur urged his subjects to continue supporting His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas’ forward-thinking administration in his efforts to not only right the wrongs of the past, but also to put Taraba on the path of peace, progress, and prosperity.
