The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Kwara State Chapter, has inaugurated the third phase of its Empowerment Scheme (YES), providing scholarships to 20 students across the state.

The event, held in Ilorin on Saturday, saw each beneficiary receiving a scholarship of N35,000 to support their education. Speaking at the event, YOWICAN Chairman, Evangelist Stephen Awoyale, stated that the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families while promoting academic excellence.

“The beneficiaries were selected from all 16 local government areas of Kwara State, with input from our local government executives and stakeholders to ensure fairness and inclusivity,” Awoyale said.

Highlighting the significance of the program, he added:

“It is with great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to this significant event, the launch of Phase III of the YOWICAN Empowerment Scheme (YES). Today, we take another bold step with the launch of Phase III, which focuses on providing WAEC scholarships to 20 beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.”

Awoyale emphasized the role of education in fulfilling God’s purpose and nurturing future Christian leaders, professionals, and change-makers. He urged the beneficiaries to be diligent and make the most of the opportunity, charging them to strive for excellence.

He also called on stakeholders to continue supporting the initiative through prayers, financial contributions, and active involvement.

“By investing in the education of our youth, we are not only building a brighter future for individuals but also empowering the church and society at large. Together, we can expand the reach of this program and touch more lives,” he said.

The chairman expressed appreciation to SEAP Nigeria Limited, the Kwara State government, and other sponsors who have supported the initiative, praising their commitment to the development of Christian youths in Kwara.

One of the beneficiaries, Taiye Adebayo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the recipients, praying for God’s blessings on the organizers and sponsors.

The YOWICAN Empowerment Scheme (YES) has continued to make an impact in Kwara State, reflecting the association’s dedication to supporting youth development and education.
