Steve Witkoff, former Special Envoy to former U.S. President Donald Trump, revealed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an apology letter to Trump following a tense confrontation during a meeting in the Oval Office.

The confrontation, which occurred on February 28, had disrupted the signing of a critical mineral deal between the U.S. and Ukraine.
In a Fox News interview on Monday, Witkoff shared details of the letter, explaining that Zelenskyy apologized for the incident.
“Zelenskyy sent a letter to the president. He apologized for that whole incident that happened in the office. I think that was an important step,” Witkoff said.

He also highlighted the ongoing discussions between Ukrainian and European teams, describing the situation as “progress.”
The tensions during the Oval Office meeting arose when Zelenskyy questioned the trustworthiness of Russian President Vladimir Putin, citing past broken agreements in the years leading up to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Witkoff expressed hope that the diplomatic efforts would lead to a deal, speaking just before his departure for a meeting with Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia.
