The Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Aminu Jauro Hassan, stated that the Perishable Items Market was established to foster unity among citizens and boost economic development in the state.

The chairman, represented by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Nathaniel Peter, made this statement during the opening ceremony of the new Perishable Items Market at Abuja Area, behind Debas Suite, Jalingo.

The chairman thanked the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Peter George, for his efforts in ensuring that business activities run smoothly in the market.

Aminu Hassan advised the youths in the area to be law-abiding and urged the residents to live peacefully, regardless of their differences.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Peter George, explained that the market was established to boost the economic growth of the state.

He commended the leadership of the Gwari sellers for their vision and commitment to ensuring the market’s success.

The Commissioner also praised the efforts of the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council for complementing government policies and programs in the area. He called on traders to treat their customers honorably in order to achieve the desired success.

Peter George further explained that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is committed, in line with the five-finger agenda of Governor Kefas, to fostering business activities and promoting prosperity in the state.

In their messages, the Chief of Kona, Kuru Augustine Venkani, the Chairman of the Association of Traders, Taraba State Chapter, Gamandi Adamu, and the Councillor representing Kona Ward appealed to the government to provide more boreholes, security, and solar lights in the market.

They also called on the youths to shun all forms of violence and engage in profitable ventures to improve their lives.
