Adamawa Initiative for Underprivileged Empowerment (ADIFUE), a foremost Nigerian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja has completed arrangement to train over 300 participants from across the 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State on issues pertaining the underprivileged, especially the out of school children in Adamawa State in particular and Nigeria at large

The three-day interactive workshop is slated to begin on October 16th- 18th, 2024 at the Community Hall of American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, Adamawa State.
Information made available to the press by the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of ADIFUE, Alhaji Saidu Njobdi Komsiri, indicates that the theme of the Workshop is “Addressing the Crisis of Underprivileged Out-Of-School Children: A Key Stakeholders Interactive Workshop.”
Alh Saidu Njobdi explained that the objective of the workshop is to convene key stakeholders to discuss and develop strategies for addressing the crisis of underprivileged out-of-school children in Adamawa State, Nigeria.

Following the program of activities for the workshop as released by Alh Saidu Njobdi, the morning Session of the first day of the workshop, being October 16th, 2024 by (9:00 am – 12: 00 pm) shall be a welcome address by ADIFUE BOT Chairman, Barrister Augustine Sambo.
There shall also be an overview of ADIFUE multi-sectoral approach to empowering individuals and communities in Nigeria by the ED/CEO, Alhaji Saidu Njobdi Komsiri. Other events shall be Opening Remark by UBEC Representative which would commenced by (9:15 am-9: 30 am), a Keynote Address on the theme “The State of Out-Of-School Children in Adamawa State” would be taken by Honorable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella by (9:30 am-10:15 am)

There shall also be “The Challenges of girl child protection and safeguarding: I need to know” by Director of Agriculture and Food Security, ADIFUE, Maryam Saidu Njobdi Komsiri, B. Sc., M. Sc., PGDE.
Goodwill Messages are scheduled to be delivered by the Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Honorable Bathiya Wesley, HRH Lamdo Fombina, Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Aliyu Mustapha, the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter and the chairman Muslim Council, Adamawa State, Alhaji Gambo Jika.
Group Discussion would commenced by (10:15 am-12:00 pm) and would dwell basically on “Identifying Causes and Consequences of out-of-school children.”

The afternoon session would be preoccupied with reviewing the challenges and opportunities of out-of-school children. Speakers and discussants would be government officials, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Private Sector Representatives, including Mr. Joel Isiah Juttum, UNICEF Consultant, Adamawa State and USAID Representative. The last activity for the day would be a Group Work which shall commence by (4:00 pm- 5:00 pm) on “Developing Strategies for Addressing out-of-school children.
Day Two of the workshop which shall be on October 17th, 2024, the morning session would witness the presentation and discussion of a paper on “UBEC’s Initiatives for out-of-school children.”

The UBEC Representative would present the paper and group discussion would follow immediately thereafter to identify the causes and consequences of out-of-school children.
The program also shows that the afternoon session shall witness parallel discussions on Education Policy and Advocacy, Community Engagement and Mobilization and Resource Mobilization and Partnerships.
The Plenary Session shall be preoccupied with reporting and sharing workshop outcomes while the morning session of the third and last day of the workshop shall witness simultaneous activities. These include the drafting of Communique, adoption of the Communique, closing ceremony, closing remarks, and presentation of certificates respectively.
