Simon Mwadkon, a former senate minority leader has praised Caleb Mutfwang, the Plateau state governor for his commitment to democracy and local government autonomy.

At a press briefing on Monday in Jos, Mwadkon, commended Mutfwang for releasing all funds meant for the local governments, even before the autonomy was granted.

Mwadkon, a former senator who represented Plateau northern senatorial district also appreciated governor Mutfwang for conducting free and fair local government elections, where other political parties won councillor seats. This, he said, demonstrates Mutfwang’s dedication to democracy and power devolution.

He expressed optimism about the PDP’s chances of taking over power at the national level, emphasising that the party is well-positioned to leverage the momentum generated by its success in the local government elections.

“Mutfwang’s leadership style has created a level playing field for all political parties, fostering a sense of competition and democracy. This approach is unlike what is obtained in other states, where the ruling party often dominates the political landscape.

“The success of the local government elections in Plateau state can be attributed to Mutfwang’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law. His leadership has created an environment where political parties can thrive and contribute to the development of the state”; the former senator said.

Mwadkon noted that the PDP’s achievements in Plateau state demonstrate its ability to promote democracy and good governance, which could resonate with voters nationwide.

He added that the local government elections in Plateau state have set a precedent for democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

” Mutfwang’s leadership and the PDP’s success have created a model for other states to follow, promoting democracy and power devolution”; he added.
