The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a three-member gang responsible for the kidnapping and killing of Alhaji Atiku Mu’azu, a retired Permanent Secretary from Gombe State residing in Kano.

The State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai. He described the crime as a grievous act that deeply impacted the community.
“Upon receiving information about the kidnapping, a dedicated team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit was assigned to rescue the victim and arrest those involved. Through sustained intelligence efforts, the suspects were apprehended,” Dogo said.

During investigations, the principal suspect confessed to luring the victim to Ringim Local Government Area (LGA) of Jigawa State under the guise of retrieving a car from a mechanic. Instead, the suspect conspired with four others, including the mechanic, to hold the victim hostage and subsequently kill him after collecting a ransom of ₦2,000,000.
A toy gun loaded with six rubber bullets was recovered from the principal suspect. The arrested individuals are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will face prosecution upon the completion of investigations.

In another development, the police are pursuing armed robbers who invaded the residence of Alhaji Auwalu in Sabuwar Unguwa Garo, Kabo LGA. The attackers reportedly stole ₦8,000,000 and kidnapped his 16-year-old daughter.
Additionally, the command arrested 17 suspected armed robbers who targeted shops and vehicles in Hotoro and Kawu Quarters, robbing residents and breaking into properties. Seven mobile phones and dangerous weapons were recovered from them.
In Yankatsari Quarters, two individuals were attacked, and 200 mobile phones were stolen. The police successfully apprehended the suspects involved in this case as well.

CP Dogo assured residents that the command is intensifying efforts to prevent emerging security threats. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to the authorities.
