The operation carried out by the gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) demonstrates a strategic approach to counter-terrorism in Taraba State.

The brigade announced the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram member in Mai-Hula town, Bali Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Gambo Grema, also known as Gamboi, was said to have been apprehended following actionable intelligence.

According to a statement from the troops, preliminary interrogations revealed that Grema was part of a Boko Haram syndicate deployed to Taraba State to engage in kidnappings for ransom.

The funds were intended to support the group’s operations and establish a new base in the region. Grema further disclosed that the syndicate was harboring members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), who had been sent from the Timbuktu Triangle to carry out additional criminal activities in the state.

The apprehension of Gambo Grema, a suspected Boko Haram member, highlights the ongoing efforts to dismantle terror cells and prevent the establishment of new ones.

The cooperation between the military and civilians, as emphasized by Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, remains crucial in ensuring sustained peace and security in Taraba state.

Providing actionable intelligence is key to preventing and addressing threats posed by terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.

This operation serves as a reminder of the critical role security forces play in maintaining stability while urging continued public vigilance and support.
