Kwara State is in mourning following the death of Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, a distinguished civil servant who served as the state’s Head of Service from 2017 to 2024.
Oluwole, aged 58, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to public service.
During her tenure, Oluwole implemented transformative policies that significantly improved the welfare of civil servants in the state.
Appointed by former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, she was widely respected for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the advancement of the civil service.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described her passing as a monumental loss to the state.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor stated, “She was an exemplary public servant whose contributions will remain indelible.
Her career was marked by hard work, brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to service.”
Oluwole’s colleagues and associates have continued to pay tribute, recalling her leadership and mentoring qualities.
A senior official remarked, “She was more than just a leader; she was a mentor who always prioritized the welfare of workers. Her dedication to discipline and professionalism was unmatched.”
Before being appointed Head of Service, Oluwole served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Service Welfare, where she championed initiatives aimed at improving the working conditions of civil servants.
Her passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from government officials and the civil service community, all of whom have acknowledged her remarkable influence and legacy.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his condolences to her husband, elderly father, and colleagues, urging them to take comfort in the significant life she led.
