Chief Stephen Wole Oke, a prominent figure in Kwara State’s politics and the Jagunmolu of Shao in Moro Local Government Area, has urged the Tripartite Committee on the New Minimum Wage to expedite negotiations and reach a fair agreement beneficial to all Nigerians.
Speaking on Radio Kwara’s Yoruba Interactive programme “Gbagede Oro,” Chief Wole Oke emphasized the importance of considering the current economic challenges in determining the minimum wage.
He called on both the government and workers’ representatives to acknowledge the economic realities and prioritize the welfare of the people.
As he celebrated his seventy-seventh birthday, Chief Wole Oke also urged parents to ensure their children receive quality education for national development.
Acknowledging Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq’s efforts in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, Chief Wole Oke urged more attention to be given to other critical sectors.
Callers echoed concerns about the high cost of living, urging the government to take decisive actions to alleviate the burden on citizens.
