JUST IN: Taraba Command of the NSCDC, Parade 2 Suspect for Vandalism

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Taraba State Command has today paraded two suspects for vandalization of power installation and communication cables belonging to Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS) booster station Zing, Taraba State.

The suspects, Jethro Johnson (24) and Good luck Titus (17), all of Zing Local Government Area of Taraba state where the TSBS booster station is situated have admitted to having committed the crime they were accused of.

Parading the suspects, the NSCDC Taraba State Command Public Relations Officer, SC. Iliya Samaila said the suspects were apprehended in Zing while they were trying to sell the vandalized items to scavengers.

The PRO added that recently there has been a resurgence in the act of vandalism in some areas of the state and that prompted the command under the leadership of the State Commandant Adamu Salihu to order for heightened patrol and surveillance around critical assets and infrastructures across the state in order to arrest the situation.

“Since the directive of the Commandant to increase patrol and surveillance, our men have stepped up effort to secure critical national assets and infrastructures, this led to the arrest of these two people who had earlier on melted the communication cables to make them easier for onward disposal”, the PRO said.

SC. Iliya, called on all well meaning citizens to help the government and law enforcement agencies in protecting critical national assets and infrastructures within their domain. “These infrastructures provided by the government are for the benefit of the general public.

We must see them as our own and protect them as we would protect our personal properties. It is imperative on all citizens to report all suspicious people or movement around these critical national assets and infrastructures”, he said.

The PRO assured newsmen that the suspects would be prosecuted immediately.
