Communities in Gassol District, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba have protested against the seizure of their farm lands by Sen. Sanusi Dagash.

Mallam Hudu Kashimu, laeader of the protesters on Friday in Gassol said that the communities would reject the land grab arrangement with the last drop of their blood.
Kashimu recalled that the late Emir of Muri Abba Tukur granted the request for land by Dr Shuaibu Bukar, former minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, who was on his official visit to Gassol the site of Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRBDA) for his personal use.

He said that a 200 hectres of land close to the location of the UBRBDA was allocated to the former minister.
He said that the family of the minister thereafter, sold the said land to Senator Sanusi Dagash, a former Senator from Borno.
Kashimu further aledge that Dagash went ahead and obtained a Certificate of Occupancy without the knowledge and concent of the real owners of the land. Where he claimed to have bought 5,000 hectres of land.

He said that the affected communities petitioned the matter to former Gov. Darius Ishaku who revoked the lentire and deal.
According to him, Dagash went back and pleaded with Gov. Ishaku to give him a little portion of land for his farming business..
He said that former Gov. Ishaku obliged and bdirected the Surveyor General of the state to allocate a portion of land which the Surveyor General did as directed.

Kashimu said that it was after Ishaku left that Dagash went to court seeking the reinstatement of his 5,000 hectres.
He therefore, appealed to the governor to intervane in the matter with the view to claiming back back their lands.
Kashimu said that the communities were completely agrarians and don’t have any land to fall back to.
He mentioned the affected communities to include; Wurbo, Kwatantaro, Sendirde Natride and Dinyawo.

When contacted, Alhaji Idris Chiroma, Emir of Gassol said that he would remain impatial in the matter especially as he was a father to all.

Ciroma, spoke to newsmen through Alhaji Usman Umar, Secretary of the Council, appeald to the agitators to remain calm especially as the matter was still in court.
