TY Danjuma Donate Multi Billion Naira Morgue to FMC Jalingo

Former Defense Minister, General TY Danjuma, has given reason behind his decision to build a state-of-the-art mortuary for the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Jalingo, in Taraba State.

The elder stateman said the decision that led him donate the facility, involved one of his Barrister Dan Agbu, whose mother had passed away and was taken to the FMC Jalingo.

He said “Agbu, who was abroad at the time, returned to find the mortuary in disrepair, with bodies left in poor conditions. ”

Describing the experience of his worker as “terrible” Danjuma said he was left with the option of contributing his quotas to the growth of the hospital.

“When Barrister Dan Agbu narrated his ordeal to me, I knew I had to do something to change the situation. Along with another worker, we quickly took steps to construct a modern mortuary for the hospital.”

Stressing the importance of maintaining the facility and its equipment, which he described as being among the best in the industry, he urged the hospital’s management to ensure its upkeep for the benefit of the Taraba community and the country at large.

Also speaking, the state commissioner of Health, Dr Bodiya Buma, said the foresight and generosity of Danjuma, has provided the state with a state-of-the-art facility that will greatly improve how “we preserve dignity in death, as well as enhance medical research and training.

Stressing that the health sector in the state has continued to benefit from strategic intervention, Danjuma’s donation, as made known by him, underscores the importance of collaboration between the government, private individuals, and the community.

He said, “With the provision of modern equipment and essential services, this facility will serve as a vital support to the FMC, Jalingo, ensuring professional mortuary services contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare delivery in our state.”

While lauding the efforts of the state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, for his leadership and commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people of the state, the governor’s vision for a healthier Taraba, according to him, what “derives these transformative projects, and we are excited to witness the positive impacts in the years to come.”

Overwhelmed by the gesture, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Aisha Adamu, reiterated the readiness of the hospital to jealously protect and maintain the morgue and its facilities.
