The College of Health Sciences at the University of Jos on Friday inducted 112 newly qualified medical doctors. The induction ceremony was marked by charges from the vice chancellor, provost, and other dignitaries, who urged the newly inducted doctors to serve humanity and make a positive impact in the lives of their patients.
Tanko Ishaya, a professor and vice chancellor of the University, represented by Nuhu GworGwor, emphasised the importance of serving humanity. He urged the inductees to forget the environment they would meet outside and work to the best of their ability and in earnest.
Caleb Mpyet, a professor and the provost of the College of Health Sciences of the university, encouraged the newly inducted doctors to build on the values and trainings they have received in the college over the years. He urged them to always put the vigorous trainings and the challenges they have faced in medical school as a guide for the challenging task ahead.
“You must be focused and ready to face the challenges ahead, you will have to climb a lot of mountains in order to stand out and also leave a positive footprint in the lives of your patients”.
Enejo Abdul, the deputy registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, administered the oath to the inductees. He underscored the need for the doctors to always uphold the ethics of the medical profession, which is a highly regulated profession. He urged them to give their best and ensure they deliver the skills that have been impacted into them while in medical school to patients who need their help and to those suffering from different ailments.
Paul Eneche, the general overseer of Dunamis Church and medical elder to the 2024 inducted doctors, charged them to make the most of their lives as they begin their journey in the noble profession.
He emphasized that they should give the very best and ensure that they hold back nothing, especially what they know will be profitable and beneficial to all.
The induction ceremony was a significant milestone in the lives of the newly qualified medical doctors. It marked the beginning of their journey in the profession.
