Following the security blockade of the palace of Emir of Kano Mohammadu Sanusi on Friday, the Kano State Government has expressed dismay on the development.
In a press statement, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs Baba Halilu Dantiye conveyed Government dissatisfaction on the blockade by heavily armed security personnel.
According to Dantiye, “this unfortunate development” has raised tensions and caused distress among the residents of Kano and the surrounding communities.
While condemning the actions of the security, Dantiye expressed the commitment of Kano state Government to security of lives and property.
“The Government is committed to maintaining peace, stability, and the rule of law across the state. We strongly condemn any action that disrupts the peace or undermines the dignity of traditional institutions, which are central to the unity and cultural heritage of our people.”
Dantiye noted that, the government is working to ascertain the reasons behind the incident and engage with the relevant authorities to ensure a swift and peaceful resolution.
He urged the people of Kano to remain calm, law-abiding, continue with their normal daily activities and refrain from spreading unverified information that could fuel unnecessary panic and tension.
“The Kano State Government remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of its people and ensuring the continued stability of our great state.”
Meanwhile, the 16th Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi ii, in a Friday Sermon called on the people of Kano to remain calm following the blockade of his palace by security personnel.
