The Mumuye Youths of Bali Local Government Area in Taraba State have strongly criticized Pastor Rikwensi Muri, a civil activist, for what they described as a “baseless, malicious, and sponsored political drama” aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Hon. Veronica Alhassan, the Member representing Bali 1 Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly. Pastor Muri had recently criticized Alhassan over a Facebook video, accusing her of threatening a constituent, Mr. Babangida.

In a statement titled “Muri and his Destructive Antics; Leave Bali alone,” the Mumuye Youths expressed disappointment that Muri, a native of Takum, was meddling in a conflict within Bali, especially when there are political crises in his own locality requiring attention.
They urged Muri to focus on resolving issues in his own community rather than involving himself in disputes that did not concern him.

The youths emphasized that Alhassan, also known as Jaruman Bukundi, is well-respected and accepted by her constituents, highlighting her achievements, including influencing the renovation of the Bali General Hospital, creating employment opportunities, and empowering women and youth.
They also pointed out that the dispute between Alhassan and Babangida is a minor political issue, which should be resolved within the family, as Babangida is a close ally of the lawmaker.

The Mumuye Youths warned Muri that his efforts to tarnish Alhassan’s image were futile, as she is supported by her people, and that the “sponsored mission” to belittle her would fail.
They concluded by advising Muri to abandon his efforts, stating, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do.”
