The Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to criticism from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the Gombe State Government’s award of a N30.1 billion contract for the construction of an underpass and road networks in the state capital.

The APC, through its Publicity Secretary Moses Kyari Bolda, dismissed the PDP’s objections, calling them an attempt to mislead the public and sow discord. Kyari defended the project, explaining that it involves the construction of an underpass, 18.1 kilometers of roads, drainage systems, and the dualization of a major road.

He argued that the project is necessary to address future traffic challenges in the area, especially around the Three Arms Zone, which would experience increased congestion once completed.

Kyari criticized the PDP for raising concerns about the project’s timing, especially regarding poverty and health sector issues, calling such criticisms baseless.

He also reminded the PDP of its own record of undertaking costly projects during its tenure, like the International Conference Centre, Mega Park, and Trailer Park, which, in his view, failed to bring substantial benefits to the people.

Kyari suggested that the PDP’s criticism stems from its inability to adapt to being in opposition. In conclusion, the APC urged citizens to continue supporting the APC-led government, highlighting its commitment to delivering democratic benefits.
