The Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), Engr. Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo, urged traditional rulers and local government chairmen in Kwara State to allocate arable land for federal agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting food security and economic growth.

Speaking during a New Year celebration in Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local Government Area, Adebayo praised the rural community of Ora for allocating 5,000 hectares for agricultural projects and encouraged other communities to follow suit.

Adebayo highlighted the Federal Government’s efforts, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, to mechanize farming, establish farm settlements, and rehabilitate displaced farmers.

These initiatives are designed to increase agricultural productivity, promote socio-economic growth, and support displaced farmers with the necessary tools and resources.

Leaders in Kwara State, including Isin Local Government Chairman Jolayemi Olarewaju and Offa Local Government Chairman Hon. Suleiman Olatunji, commended the initiative, stressing its potential to address food scarcity, create employment, and improve infrastructure.

Oba Salaudeen Tayo, the Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin, also expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s support but called for more assistance to farmers in the region.

The event emphasized the importance of regional collaboration, with former Governor C.O. Adebayo promoting unity among stakeholders for regional development.

Stakeholders lauded the Federal Government’s agricultural initiatives as a transformative step toward securing food and driving economic prosperity in the region.
