The recent leadership turmoil surrounding Hon. John Danjuma Ali, Executive Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, has attracted significant attention.

On January 10, 2025, Ali issued a press statement clarifying that the controversy was a result of a misunderstanding between the Executive and Legislative arms of the council.

He thanked His Royal Majesty, Dr. Sopiya Danlami Ahmadu Garboshi III, the First Class Chief of Takum, for his timely intervention, which helped to resolve the issue.

The impeachment proceedings began on January 8, 2025, after an emergency council meeting, where 11 councillors agreed to initiate a probe.

The council emphasized the need for accountability and transparency through the formation of a 5-member panel.

However, Ali denied allegations implicating federal and state lawmakers in the impeachment move, calling them baseless and unfounded.

Sources close to Ali suggest that entrenched interests may have played a role in orchestrating the impeachment effort.

Despite the allegations of misconduct, including mismanagement of funds and lack of transparency, Ali stated that such disagreements were a natural part of a democratic system.

He called for unity among the people of Takum to focus on development and progress. Hon. JD Ngati, in an interview with NEWSPOINTER, raised concerns about potential external influences and emphasized the legality of the impeachment process.

The resolution of the conflict through the intervention of the Royal Father is seen as a step towards ensuring peace and fostering a productive working relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of the council.

This development is expected to ease concerns and refocus the efforts of Takum Local Government on achieving prosperity for its people and the broader Taraba State.
