CISLAC has praised the U.S. government’s repatriation of $52.88 million in recovered assets linked to former Nigerian Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The group commended the collaboration between the U.S. and Nigerian governments but stressed the need for transparency and accountability in utilizing the funds.
CISLAC called for the funds to be used for visible development projects, particularly rural electrification, and urged the government to provide clear details on how the money will be allocated and monitored.
The organization also emphasized the importance of adhering to the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act 2022 and ensuring that citizens can track the impact of these funds.
The success of this recovery is seen as a step forward in restoring public trust in the fight against corruption, with CISLAC committed to further advocacy for proper asset management and national development.
