President Bola Tinubu has expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for their unanimous endorsement of the four Tax Reform Bills currently under review by the National Assembly.

Tinubu praised the governors for demonstrating bold leadership and a commitment to unity, transcending regional, ethnic, and political divides to advance Nigeria’s development.
The President highlighted the collaborative efforts seen during Thursday’s consultation between the NGF and the Presidential Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy as a model of effective cooperation between Federal and State governments.

He extended special commendations to Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the NGF, for his efforts in rallying support among governors for the transformative tax reforms aimed at revitalizing the national economy and improving Nigeria’s investment climate.
Acknowledging the contributions of groups such as the Progressive Governors Forum, the Northern Governors Forum, and others, President Tinubu noted their role in achieving bipartisan consensus on the tax reform proposals.

He emphasized that the Tax Reform Bills are pro-poor and designed to promote national interests, enhance economic competitiveness, and attract both domestic and foreign investments.
The President pointed out that updating outdated tax laws is a critical step in this direction.

He also commended the productive dialogue between the NGF and the Presidential Committee, underscoring the importance of constructive conversations in resolving differences.
Recognizing governors as vital partners in nation-building, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively to foster economic growth, harmony, peace, and stability.

He encouraged other stakeholders to actively participate in refining the Tax Bills through the legislative process and urged the National Assembly to expedite their passage so the country can begin to enjoy the benefits of the reforms swiftly.
