The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, has reaffirmed his dedication to fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, including Media Trust, to achieve the ministry’s mandate.

Waiya expressed this commitment during a visit from Ahmed Shekarau, Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust, who congratulated him on his recent appointment.
The Commissioner highlighted his long-standing relationship with Media Trust, recalling his involvement in conceptualizing Trust TV and providing advisory support for its successful launch. He commended the organization for its resilience in adapting to the challenges of transitioning from traditional print to digital platforms.

“Despite the economic hardships that have caused many media organizations to shut down or scale back operations, Media Trust has remained steadfast, consistently publishing Daily Trust, while others have shifted to weekly publications,” Waiya remarked.
He urged Media Trust to continue its excellent work while broadening its focus to highlight critical societal issues requiring immediate attention. Waiya emphasized that such initiatives align with corporate social responsibility and contribute to societal development.

The Commissioner also pledged to strengthen collaboration with Media Trust to enhance effective and efficient information dissemination, particularly in promoting the policies and programs of the Kano State Government.
In response, Media Trust’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Shekarau, described Waiya’s appointment as well-deserved and praised the existing collaboration between Media Trust and the Kano State Government. He proposed enhancing this partnership through the introduction of a weekly documentary or program to showcase the policies, activities, and developmental projects of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.

The Director of Special Duties at the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, Sani Yola, revealed these details in a press statement.
