The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Taraba State Command, has paraded three suspects in connection with criminal activities in Jalingo.
The parading took place at the Command Headquarters, Mile Six, Jalingo.
The first case involves two suspects arrested for vandalizing power cables.
The first suspect, Jerry Mechie (32), was apprehended on January 17, 2025, at around 1:00 a.m. in the Rafin Sanyi area of Jalingo.
He was found with a 100-foot-long Racline 24mm cable stolen from the area. Following his arrest, investigations revealed he had an accomplice, Jamilu Saidu, who was arrested the next day, January 18, 2025.
Commandant Anthony Bala Bitrus, while parading the suspects, credited their arrests to the collaborative efforts of the local community and NSCDC officers.
Both suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court for prosecution.
In a related development, the NSCDC also paraded Emmanuel Audu (22), a suspected phone thief.
He was arrested for stealing five phones and ₦25,000 from students of Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo. Audu is alleged to be part of a gang of hoodlums using knives and cutlasses to terrorize students at night.
Investigations are ongoing to track down his accomplices.
The Commandant reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
