The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned a 7.3-kilometer road equipped with solar-powered streetlights in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction at fulfilling a significant campaign promise, emphasizing its potential to improve the community’s socio-economic conditions.
“Today, we witness the realization of a commitment made to the people of Dawakin Kudu,” he said. “I am delighted to commission this project, which will significantly enhance the socio-economic well-being of the community.”

The project, valued at over four billion naira, was revalidated last year under a renewed agreement with H&M Nigeria Limited, ensuring its completion within the first quarter of 2025.
The Chairman of Dawakin Kudu Local Government, Sani Mairago, praised the governor for prioritizing the project. He described the completed road as a crucial development that would positively impact the lives of residents.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, noted that the road was initially initiated in 2012 under the administration of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. However, the project was abandoned by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, before being revived under Governor Yusuf’s leadership.
