The Kano State Government has reiterated its determination to elevate the Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) station to the standards of top-tier broadcasting in Nigeria. This was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, during his familiarization visit to the station.

Waiya emphasized the urgency of fully digitalizing ARTV, equipping it with cutting-edge facilities, and ensuring staff are trained in digital technology to enhance operations. He stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare and professional growth of the station’s employees.
To bolster staff welfare, Waiya directed ARTV’s management to establish a cooperative society, promising his unwavering support for the initiative. He also commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for improving civil servant welfare, particularly through the payment of minimum wage and pension gratuities.

Alhaji Idris Abba, Deputy Managing Director of ARTV, congratulated Waiya on his appointment and outlined the station’s challenges, including inconsistent power supply and a lack of functional vehicles.
In a related visit, the Commissioner was received by the Kano State Censorship Board, where he detailed plans to enhance staff welfare and build professional capacity. Waiya encouraged self-development among staff and highlighted his administration’s focus on training, retraining, and equipping the board to meet global standards.

He praised the Executive Secretary of the Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, for his role in maintaining low litigation rates in the Kannywood industry and commended him as a distinguished ambassador for the sector. In response, El-Mustapha expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit and his dedication to the board’s progress.
