UNICEF Chief joins Paediatricians in road walk for 2025 PAN Conference in Gombe

The Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, has reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to partnering with the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) to advance the development and well-being of children in Nigeria.

Dr. Rafique joined Nigerian pediatricians in a morning Road Walk to kick off PAN’s National Conference in Gombe. Speaking at the Pantami Township Stadium after the exercise, she emphasized UNICEF’s full support for PAN’s initiatives aimed at improving child care and development during the conference.

She stated, “PAN is one of the partners with UNICEF. We have a shared agenda for children. Children are the focus in the three-day conference. Activities relating to child health, child survival, newborn health activities are all ongoing, including workshops on neonatal resuscitation, helping newborns breathe, and respiratory support for children.”

Dr. Rafique highlighted the importance of these activities and capacity-building efforts, expressing gratitude for PAN’s dedication to child health and newborn survival. She emphasized that these efforts are crucial for the development of Nigeria’s next generation.

The 2025 PAN Conference, hosted at the Gombe International Conference Centre from January 22 to 24, is themed “Intersectoral Collaboration in Advancing Child Health and Development.”
