Northern Governors’ Forum Mourns Lt. General Jeremiah Useni

The Chairman of the Northern State Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni (rtd), former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

General Useni, aged 82, passed away after a protracted illness.

In a statement issued through Ismaila Uba Misilli, DG Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Governor Yahaya described General Useni as a patriot, seasoned military officer, and statesman who devoted his life to the service of the nation.

He highlighted General Useni’s pivotal contributions to the development of the FCT and his commitment to national unity during his tenure as a Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, noting that his legacy would remain etched in Nigeria’s history.

“Lt. General Useni was a highly respected leader whose service in both military and civil capacities significantly impacted Nigeria’s governance and development.

His wisdom, experience, and dedication to unity will be greatly missed,” Governor Yahaya remarked.

On behalf of the NSGF, Governor Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late General, Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang, the government and people of Plateau State, and the entire nation.

He urged all to find solace in General Useni’s exemplary life and legacy of patriotism and service.

“We pray Almighty God grants him eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss,” the statement concluded.
