The tragic killing of Professor Emeka Chukwuma, a respected academic from Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has left the community in shock.

The 56-year-old professor was reportedly gunned down by unknown assailants in his hometown of Umueji, Asaba, during a weekend visit.
The incident occurred on Friday night at his residence in the St. Bridges area of Umueji.
Reports indicate that the professor was a victim of an attack that has raised concerns among residents over the growing insecurity in Asaba and other areas in Delta State.

In the wake of the incident, residents have appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to combat criminal activities in the region.
Many fear that the state’s ongoing security challenges are putting lives and livelihoods at risk.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations are underway.

“The matter has been reported, and we are actively working to apprehend those responsible and ensure justice is served,” he stated.
This latest incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect citizens and restore public confidence in law enforcement within the region.
