Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, was vibrant with excitement on Tuesday as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, began a three-day working visit.
The visit, marked by the unveiling of key projects from Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration, showcased strides in digital, healthcare, and infrastructural development.
Senator Tinubu arrived at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport at 10:45 a.m. and inaugurated an ICT Community Centre at the Kwara State University of Education, built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the centre is aimed at fostering digital literacy and empowerment.
The First Lady also commissioned a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Dr. Amuda Aluko Ward, hallmark achievements of the Abdulrazaq administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu highlighted the potential of ICT to bridge traditional barriers, particularly for women:
“The knowledge of ICT serves as a significant tool to empower communities, especially women, to break traditional barriers and access new opportunities. I am glad to hear about the success stories and the opportunities these centres afford their communities.”
“Technology is here to stay, and the only path forward is to aggressively invest in the skills and infrastructure that will secure a prosperous future for our people.”

Accompanied by the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, and other dignitaries, Senator Tinubu received a grand welcome from Governor Abdulrazaq, his wife, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, and a host of political and traditional leaders.
During a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the monarch praised Governor Abdulrazaq as a “fine achiever” and commended his unwavering support for President Tinubu.
The Emir prayed for continued success for the President, the Governor, and the First Lady. Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude for the Emir’s steadfast support.
The visit also featured a food distribution program, organized by the Renewed Hope Initiative in partnership with ASR Africa Initiative, targeting vulnerable residents. Governor Abdulrazaq described the program as a timely intervention for the less privileged.
The day’s activities culminated in a state dinner at the newly revitalized Flower Garden, which the Abdulrazaq administration transformed into a lush recreational facility.
This historic visit underscores the synergy between the federal and Kwara State governments in driving development, empowering communities, and improving the quality of life for residents. As the visit continues, the state looks forward to further transformative initiatives and collaborations.
