The Kano State Police Command has arrested two associates of a suspected wanted Chadian terrorist. The terrorist’s wife was also apprehended.

While parading the suspects at the Command Headquarters, Commissioner of Police (CP) Salman Dogo stated that they were arrested following a thorough investigation and intelligence-led policing. He confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody, with investigations ongoing.

According to CP Dogo, the wanted terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, a Chadian national, is accused of masterminding the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad. Intelligence reports also revealed that Abba was planning to establish a terrorist base in Kano State, North West Nigeria.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the police recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during their operations, acting on one of the intelligence reports.

“So far, the command has intensified its intelligence-gathering efforts across various locations,” CP Dogo said. “Our teams are working closely with other intelligence agencies and local communities to identify any suspicious activities or individuals who may pose a security threat.”

He added that patrols have been strengthened, and surveillance measures enhanced in vulnerable areas.

The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of community engagement in security efforts. “Through our public relations unit, we will continue awareness programs to educate the public on the need to report suspicious activities. Fostering trust and cooperation between the police and the communities we serve is crucial in combating crime and preventing potential security threats,” he said.

CP Dogo expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Kano State Government and residents, reassuring them of the police command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security. He urged the public to remain vigilant and provide valuable information to aid in tackling emerging security threats.

The Deputy Director of Operations for the Chadian Police, Mahammat Drya Ali, who spoke in French, commended the joint security collaboration between Chad and Nigeria.
