The Senator representing Taraba Central Senatorial Zone, Haruna Manu, has donated 140 delivery beds and gynecological examination tables to healthcare centres across the zone.

The items were officially handed over to the chairmen of the five local government areas at the essential drug store in Jalingo for distribution to both primary and secondary healthcare centres.
Speaking at the event, the Taraba State Coordinator of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Peter Adamu, commended the Senator for the initiative, stating that it would contribute significantly to achieving universal health coverage and reducing maternal mortality in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Tukura Nuhu, described the donation as timely, noting that many primary healthcare facilities in the state have been in poor condition for a long time. He also highlighted the state government’s efforts, revealing that Governor Agbu Kefas had approved the renovation of 113 additional primary healthcare centres, with plans to upgrade most of them to Level One facilities.
Simon Dogari, Director-General of Haruna Manu’s campaign organization, emphasized the Senator’s commitment to improving the healthcare sector and warned against the diversion of the donated items.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Permanent Secretary of the Health Services Management Board, Dr. Ahmad Kara, praised the Senator’s intervention, stating that improving healthcare infrastructure and human resources is key to reducing maternal mortality.

The donation is expected to enhance service delivery in primary healthcare centres and contribute to better maternal and child health outcomes in Taraba Central.
