The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at Taraba State University has congratulated Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara on his appointment as the new Head of Civil Service for Taraba State. The congratulatory message, signed by SSANU Chairperson Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the appointment, which the union sees as a significant step toward civil service reform in the state.

SSANU described Dr. Kara’s appointment as a strategic decision that would bring about necessary changes to the state’s civil service and enhance governance. The union expressed confidence that his leadership would elevate the civil service and contribute to the success of Governor Kefas’ broader vision for the state’s development.
“We congratulate Dr. Kara on his well-deserved appointment and pray for God to grant him the wisdom and strength to lead the civil service toward greater efficiency and effectiveness,” the statement read.

The appointment follows the retirement of Dr. Kara’s predecessor, Mr. Tino Paul Maigida, and was announced by the state’s Secretary to the Government, Chief Gibon Timothy Kataps. Dr. Kara, who previously served as the Physician to the Governor from 1999 to 2015, held several key positions in the state’s health sector, including Chief Medical Officer and Director of Hospital Services. He was also appointed Permanent Secretary in various state departments before overseeing the Ministry of Tertiary Education.
Dr. Kara’s new role as Head of Civil Service is expected to play a crucial part in the ongoing transformation of Taraba’s civil service under Governor Kefas’ leadership.
