The Soun of Ogbomosho Land, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has announced plans to relocate one of his businesses to Gombe State, citing the state’s peaceful atmosphere and conducive business environment.
The monarch made the revelation during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House in Gombe as part of his week-long visit to the state.
Oba Olaoye described Gombe as a “shining example of peace, progress, and harmonious coexistence” in Nigeria, commending the state’s efforts in fostering unity among its diverse ethnic and religious groups. He also expressed admiration for the state’s physical infrastructure, particularly its street lighting, cleanliness, and overall safety.
“I took a walk at night to see things for myself across major streets of Gombe metropolis, and what I saw was remarkable. Even in Ogbomosho, we do not have such beautiful streetlights. Gombe is clean, peaceful, and safe,” the monarch remarked.
The royal father revealed that this visit had inspired him to move one of his businesses to Gombe, with a commitment to contributing to the state’s growing economy.
“I am assuring you that I will move one of my companies to Gombe State to contribute to its thriving economy,” he stated. “I am leaving today, but I will certainly return in a significant way to give back to both my subjects and the people of Gombe.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya responded by attributing Gombe’s peaceful atmosphere to the strong social cohesion among its diverse communities. He also highlighted how the state’s strategic location in the Northeast has helped attract people from various backgrounds, boosting its economy.
“Our peaceful coexistence has significantly boosted our economy. The Yoruba community, in particular, has made invaluable contributions to our state’s economic growth,” the Governor said.
The Governor also praised Oba Olaoye for defying negative stereotypes about the Northeast and visiting the state despite misleading narratives. He reaffirmed the strong historical bond between Gombe and Ogbomosho and assured the monarch that the goodwill would be reciprocated.
In a similar vein, the Emir of Gombe, Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, who is also the Chairman of the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, hailed the visit as a significant step in strengthening the longstanding relationship between the people of Gombe and Ogbomosho.
This visit marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between Nigerian communities from different regions.
