Indigenes of Obbo-Ile and Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, have praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for recognizing the significant contributions of Princess Bola Esan, a former Director of Sports in the state. The governor recently honored Princess Esan by naming a hostel after her, acknowledging her outstanding service to sports development in both Kwara and Nigeria.
In a joint statement, the Presidents of the Obbo Ayegunle Descendants Union, Architect Enock Adeyeye Ogun, and the Obbo Ile Descendants Union, Chief Biobaku Oladele Adebayo, expressed their gratitude to the governor. They described the gesture as a well-deserved tribute to Princess Esan’s dedication and hard work in advancing sports in the country.
“The naming of the hostel after Princess Bola Esan is a fitting recognition of her immense contributions. It will not only honor her legacy but also inspire others in the sports sector to follow her example,” the statement read.
Princess Esan, who led Nigeria’s contingent to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia, is celebrated for her remarkable career in sports administration. Her successful retirement from service has left a lasting impact on the development of sports in Nigeria.
