The Plateau State Police Command has announced the arrest of 17 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, gun running, and the murder of an NYSC member.
During a press briefing on Tuesday in Jos, Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, revealed that two suspects—Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe—have been arrested in connection with the death of Safwan Adamu Fade, an NYSC corps member. Fade was attacked and beaten by unknown assailants at the Pankshin township stadium on January 22, 2025, and later died at the Jos University Teaching Hospital due to complications from the injuries.
In another major development, the Police paraded nine suspects linked to the kidnapping and murder of an 11-year-old boy, Tasiu Abdullahi, in Jos North LGA. The boy was kidnapped on December 16, 2024, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N1.25 million. After collecting a reduced ransom of N150,000, the criminals killed the boy. Key suspects in the case include Isiyaka Umar, Zaharadeen Muhammed, Mubarak Nura, and Ismail Auwal.
The Police also arrested Terishima David, a suspected gunrunner, who was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, and Israel Bitrus, who was apprehended for impersonating a military officer with camouflage uniforms and military equipment.
CP Adesina commended the efforts of Plateau citizens for their cooperation in the fight against crime, and thanked the media for their role in spreading awareness about the Police’s efforts.
