Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has explained that the decision to hold his state’s Executive retreat in Gombe was motivated by the state’s impressive developmental progress and peaceful atmosphere.

Governor Namadi stated that Gombe’s development serves as a valuable model for Jigawa as the theme of the retreat—”Ascending the Peak: Achieving Greater Jigawa Vision Through Innovation and Transformative Leadership”—aims to inspire greater commitment to governance excellence.

The two-day retreat, which took place at the International Conference Centre in Gombe, gathered members of the Jigawa State Executive Council and top government officials. Governor Namadi expressed confidence that the retreat would enhance synergy, efficiency, and impact among officials.

In his address, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, highlighted his administration’s strides, including major projects like the Network 11-100 road initiative, the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, and reforms in healthcare and land administration.

He also touched on Gombe’s consistent ranking as Nigeria’s top state for ease of doing business and the successful implementation of the Gombe Goes Green (3G) initiative.

Governor Yahaya also discussed the introduction of a biometric attendance system in Gombe’s civil service, which has significantly improved accountability, eliminated ghost workers, and boosted productivity. He noted that the retreat presented an opportunity for both states to share best practices and learn from each other’s successes.

The retreat was also seen as a platform for strengthening collaboration and leadership skills among Jigawa’s government officials, ensuring they drive impactful policies for the state’s continued development.
