The Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Saturday, February 15, celebrated the graduation of 1,511 female officers who completed an intensive tactical and operational training at the 26 Police Mobile Squadron. The women, drawn from various police divisions and area commands, underwent a rigorous three-month program designed to enhance their skills in handling security challenges.
In his remarks, Commissioner of Police (CP) Baba Mohammed Azare stated that the training was part of efforts to strengthen the security architecture of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria as a whole. He emphasized that the program went beyond physical endurance, focusing on mental agility, tactical precision, and strategic responses to real-world security threats.
CP Azare also commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his dedication to gender inclusion within the police force. He noted that the newly trained officers would play a key role in national security, particularly in energy-related security challenges.
The commissioner acknowledged the late CP Waheed Ayilara, who initiated the training program, and ACP Baba Mala Mohammed, the former Squadron Commander of the 26 PMF, for their instrumental roles in its conception. He also thanked Akwa Ibom Governor Pastor Umo Eno for his ongoing support in making the state one of the safest in Nigeria.
The training, which included advanced drills, weapon exercises, tactical formations, and casualty care, was a testament to the evolving capabilities of the police force. The Executive Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his Special Adviser on Security, DIG Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi (rtd.), congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the police in their efforts to maintain safety across the state.
