A late-night fire on Sunday, February 16, 2025, completely destroyed a four-bedroom apartment on Ifesowapo Street in Ita-Elepa, Ilorin.

The blaze, believed to have been caused by a power surge, engulfed the building before firefighters could intervene.

The Kwara State Fire Service received an emergency call at 8:52 p.m., but by the time crews arrived, the structure was already consumed by flames. Despite their prompt response, the apartment was beyond repair.

Prince Falade John, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, described the fire as a major loss and stressed the need for fire safety precautions.

He advised residents to always switch off electrical appliances when not in use and to ensure their homes are properly wired to prevent such incidents.

The Fire Service has reiterated its commitment to improving public safety through quick emergency responses and continued fire safety awareness campaigns.
