Former Senate President, David Mark, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s prominent elder statesmen, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark and Ayo Adebanjo.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh, in Kano on Tuesday, Mark described their deaths as a significant loss to the nation, marking the end of an era and creating a void in Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
Mark praised the two leaders as the “last of the conscience of the nation,” highlighting their tireless efforts in fighting for a progressive Nigeria, free from oppression and marginalization.
He emphasized that Clark and Adebanjo were united in their vision for an egalitarian society with equal opportunities for all Nigerians.
The former Senate President lamented that while Clark and Adebanjo may not have seen the Nigeria of their dreams, they had nonetheless laid a strong foundation for future growth and development.
He urged the administration of President Bola Tinubu to immortalize their legacies through recognition of their selfless service and contributions to the nation.
Mark also extended his condolences to the families, governments, and people of Ogun and Delta States, urging them to draw comfort from the enduring legacies left by the two elder statesmen.
