Authorities in Taraba State have successfully recovered and returned 198 stolen cows to their rightful owners in Jalingo. Dr. Aminu Jauro, Chairman of the Taskforce on the Recovery of Stolen Cows, officiated the handover ceremony, announcing the recovery of a total of 222 cows and 58 sheep.

Jauro, who also serves as the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area and the state’s ALGON Chairman, credited the success to the collaboration between security agencies and local hunters.

A screening of 52 cattle owner groups helped identify the owners of 198 cows, leaving 24 cows still unclaimed. Jauro urged any remaining owners to come forward and claim their livestock, which had been stolen from herders in Ardo Kola Local Government Area.

The recovered cows were intercepted in Gassol Local Government Area, thanks to the efforts of intelligence officers and local hunters. The taskforce, which included local government chairmen from Ardo Kola, Gassol, Jalingo, Lau, and Karim Lamido, as well as security agencies and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, worked together to ensure the return of the animals.

Alhaji Yau Ibrahim, Chairman of Miyetti Allah in Taraba, expressed his gratitude to Governor Agbu Kefas for supporting the recovery initiative, noting that such efforts contribute to promoting peaceful coexistence among the state’s communities.
