Senator David S. Jimkuta has launched the Southern Taraba Empowerment Program (STEP) 2025, an unprecedented initiative aimed at transforming the economic landscape of Southern Taraba.

The event, which took place at Government Secondary School (GSS), Wukari, saw the distribution of empowerment items worth over ₦2 billion—the largest of its kind in Nigeria’s history.
The program benefitted residents of the five local government areas (LGAs) in Taraba South Senatorial District: Donga, Ibi, Takum, Ussa, and Wukari. Among the items distributed were:
Over 50 cars
500 motorcycles
150+ tricycles (Keke) and pickup vans
100+ grinding machines
100+ freezers
200+ sewing machines
50+ car wash pumps
50+ vulcanizing machines
20+ mobile/hand tractors
50+ irrigation water pumps

The carefully selected items are designed to empower individuals directly, while also creating indirect economic opportunities aimed at stimulating local businesses, enhancing agricultural productivity, and fostering long-term sustainable growth in the region.
This marks the first phase of the STEP 2025 initiative, with Senator Jimkuta vowing to continue his commitment to the economic liberation and growth of the people of Southern Taraba. More phases of the empowerment program are expected in the coming months.

This landmark event has set a new standard for empowerment programs in Nigeria, underscoring the potential for significant positive change in the lives of everyday citizens.
