The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has criticized Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for not acknowledging the Federal Government’s role in the recent distribution of Ramadan palliatives in the state.

In a statement issued by the PDP’s Public Relations Officer, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, the party accused the Governor of taking credit for the Federal Government’s gesture, even though other state governors openly recognized the Federal Government’s contribution.

The PDP raised concerns about transparency and the use of the palliatives for political gain, questioning the Governor’s failure to credit the Federal Government’s efforts and the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The lack of acknowledgment raises urgent questions about transparency and commitment to the welfare of citizens,” said Dukku.

“Other state governors have praised the Federal Government’s initiative, which highlights the importance of collaboration in supporting vulnerable communities.”

The PDP also pointed to Governor Yahaya’s previous criticism of the Federal Government’s rice distribution last year, noting that this pattern of dismissing federal contributions continues with the current palliative distribution.

In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) dismissed the allegations as “negative propaganda.” Moses Kyari Bolda, the APC Publicity Secretary in Gombe, rejected claims of a Federal Government Ramadan palliative program.

He explained that the state had initiated the distribution independently, as part of the Governor’s ongoing commitment to citizens’ welfare.

Kyari emphasized that the distribution was carried out through a committee led by the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, comprising various stakeholders, including government officials, religious groups, and civil society organizations.

He further suggested that the PDP was criticizing the distribution because its members were not included in the committee.

He commended the PDP for acknowledging that the palliatives were distributed and praised the APC-led government for its commitment to the welfare of Gombe State residents.

Kyari concluded by urging the people of Gombe State to continue supporting the APC Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
