In a successful operation on March 6, 2025, the Taraba State Police, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended a suspect, Yusufa Isah, for unlawfully possessing firearms. The arrest took place around 6:40 PM in Funawo Village, near Tella Town in Gassol Local Government Area.

A team of detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), led by ASP Yakubu Adamu Bubble, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, raided the suspect’s location. During the operation, they recovered an AK-47 rifle, identified by Breech No. A1808M, which was loaded with 25 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect was also found with several charms.

The Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, CP Chukwudi C. Ariekpere, praised the officers’ efforts and reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to tackling crime in the region. He assured the public of their safety and security, emphasizing that efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates would continue.
A discreet investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the crime.
