The Senate of the Nigerian Army University Biu, located in Borno State, has elected Professor Ahmad Imam as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The election took place during the 2nd Special Senate Meeting held on March 6, 2025. Prior to his appointment, Professor Imam served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) and Director of Research.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Imam expressed his gratitude to the Senate for entrusting him with the leadership of the university.
He pledged to prioritize staff welfare, address outstanding issues within the university community, and continue efforts to improve security on campus.
He assured the university community that security would remain a top focus and vowed to sustain the measures introduced by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Kyari Mohammed.
Professor Imam also offered prayers for the safe return of Professor Abubakar El-Jummah, who was kidnapped along the Biu-Damboa road.
He urged staff to exercise caution and avoid dangerous routes in and outside the state. Additionally, he committed to working closely with the newly constituted Governing Council to ensure the university runs smoothly.
In his final remarks, outgoing Vice Chancellor Professor Kyari Mohammed expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure and called for continued support for the new Acting Vice Chancellor to ensure his success in the role.
