The Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Mr. Peter Tanko Dogara, has reaffirmed the council’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions to accelerate development across the region.
Mr. Dogara made the pledge during a two-day working tour, where he led the entire Local Government Council and management staff to visit the palaces of several traditional rulers.
The tour included visits to the palaces of the Kpop Gwong, Mr. Paul Zakkah Wyom; the Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu; and the Tum Nikyob, Mr. Tanko Tete.
During the visits, Mr. Dogara expressed appreciation to the people for their confidence in the council and assured them of his administration’s dedication to delivering on its promises.
He highlighted the council’s recent achievements, including the payment of WAEC and JAMB fees for 550 students and securing employment opportunities for local citizens. He also praised Governor Uba Sani’s people-oriented projects, urging continued public support and cooperation.
In response, the traditional rulers commended the chairman for the visit and presented key challenges facing their communities, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate healthcare, lack of potable water, and security concerns.
The tour continued on Wednesday with visits to the Zikpak, Godogodo, and Barde chiefdoms. At each palace, Mr. Dogara reiterated his commitment to improving the living conditions of residents and strengthening ties between the council and traditional institutions.
The Agwam Zikpak, Mr. Josiah Kantyok, emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence for meaningful development, while the Chief of Godogodo, Reverend Dr. Habila Sa’idu, urged the council to address ongoing boundary disputes. The Chief of Barde, Mr. Njebi Daniel Lemson, raised concerns about insecurity in his chiefdom.
Across all the chiefdoms, common issues such as the need for better infrastructure, road rehabilitation, improved security, and access to potable water were highlighted. Mr. Dogara assured the traditional leaders that their concerns would be addressed, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to ensuring sustainable development in the local government area.
